Explore Balancing your Body
- Do you want more energy?
- Do you want to sleep better so you can awaken feeling well rested and rejuvenated?
- Do you want a clearer mind?
You can do all that and more. Balancing your Body is one component of how to achieve optimal health. Life comes with many challenges and stresses. Many days consist of taking care of children, working, coming home to laundry, dinner to make, helping children with homework, driving children to and from activities, caring for elderly parents, and getting children to sleep. And of course, once all of that is done, you still have your relationship with your significant other to tend to. Or maybe your day is jam packed with schoolwork, practices and games, homework, college applications and more.
This all boils down to stress. Stress is a major contributor to throwing our bodies out of balance. Stress can leave us feeling exhausted and sleepless. Maybe you experience it as waking up between 3-4 am completely wired. Or maybe it is the 2-3 pm energy crash on most days. And then it is time for sleep and you lie there awake for hours before you can even fall asleep.
Stress has been linked with every chronic illness. It shows up differently for different people. In some, it shows up as high blood pressure. For others, digestive issues (IBS, reflux, diarrhea, constipation), and yet for others, a compromised immune system. Do you find yourself getting sick more often or perhaps sickness stays with you longer than it used to? Stress could also show up as increased belly fat, anxiety, depression, and even auto-immune diseases.
Let us not Underestimate the Impact of Stress
Living with constant stress puts undue stress on every cell of your body.
Your adrenal glands are meant to help you get through times of stress, producing additional stress hormones to provide an extra boost of energy. Technically, your adrenal glands should produce enough hormones to help you transition through peri-menopause and menopause.
Your body should be able to take what the adrenal glands produce and convert it into the hormones necessary to help make the menopause transition smooth.
But why is it that women still experience symptoms of hormonal imbalance? It is in very large part, due to the stress that is experienced in every day life. When you live with chronic stress, it affects every process in your body. While the adrenal glands work hard to help you, at some point, they simply start to slow down. They get tired of producing stress hormones day in and day out, eventually become fatigued, and ultimately burn out.
Healing your adrenal glands can take 1-2 years IF you are doing everything possible to heal them. This requires more than just a supplement. It takes a four pronged approach involving addressing nutrition, sleep, appropriate exercise and stress management.
The Good News is that I can guide and support you through this!
My pharmacy background is predominantly in handling women’s health care issues, thyroid optimization and helping to heal stressed out adrenals. As a Certified Functional Medicine Practitioner, Menopause Educator and a pharmacist with a holistic approach to balancing the body, I have helped countless clients regain their lives through balanced living.
How we go about balancing your body depends on your needs and goals, as well as your health history. When we begin work on balancing your body, we will address your overall health, hormonal health, nutritional supplements, lifestyle, stress levels, fitness levels, and exercise. We will get to the root cause of why you are feeling out of balance or experiencing symptoms of dis-ease.
We will evaluate your need for bio-identical hormone replacement, or natural supplements that can help you regain a sense of your self. I am a proponent of making lifestyle modifications and getting to the root of an ailment or issue rather than simply giving a pill for every ill. Many times, the medications are like bandaids that get put over symptoms to mask them. Granted, there are many instances where prescription medications are absolutely necessary. However, not all are essential to your health and well-being, and very often, the answer is not in a bottle, but rather in taking a proactive approach to healing yourself.
I can help you balance your body with traditional Western treatment options, as well as with other holistic or alternative methods. I always take a functional medicine approach, which is getting to the root cause of the issue and healing from there.
In addition, to women’s hormonal health, I can assist with thyroid management, adrenal health, and making recommendations to help enhance your immune system. For those of you who have been afflicted with fluoroquinolone toxicity (very severe adverse effects from taking antibiotic such as ciprofloxacin, levoquin, avalox), there is help.
